The cycling season, unlike the eternal season of my nation’s national sport, mercifully finishes when it should – at the end of summer (does hockey ever end now..?). There are a few more races after this one, including the major Tour of Lombardy, but the Road World Championships (where they give out those cool, rainbow jerseys) signal the end of the season to me. The World Championships are a bit different from regular-season races in that cyclists compete in national teams instead of the trade teams they ride for regularly.
This year’s series of races is held in Copenhagen, so the road race at least will be one for the sprinters, I imagine. Here’s a Google Earth video of the road race course.
And the time trial course.
