French Cycling Jargon: The Legs Were F**ked

This one falls into the ‘watch what you say’ category, especially when you are speaking your 2nd language. And no, it’s not French, but I’m guessing every French rider in the peloton knows how to say it.

Yesterday, Warren Barguil – once one of the next great things in French cycling – won his first World Tour race in 5 years. He got himself into a big breakaway and broke the remnants of the group on a steep ‘wall’ a few kilometers before the Strade Bianche-esque finish on stage 5 of Tirreno-Adriatico.

In the live interview after the race, Warren explained (in pretty good English) that he felt good and knew the stage was perfect for him. He also said, in a very endearing manner, that he attacked even though ‘the legs were f**ked’. We feel you, Warren, and nice to see you back on the podium.
