I’ve known this about myself for as long as I’ve been running bike tours but I’ve never thought to ask whether it ‘means’ something. My little business fetish is that I actually enjoy paying my service providers.

All my guides will tell you that I am very quick in paying their invoices. I have even had one instance where I had to hound the guy for months to actually pay him. It drove me bananas.

My hotel partners sometime tell me to hold off paying them in full, too (admittedly I do this more to control my credit card limit than any early-payment perversion on my part).

Now, just so you don’t think I’m an utter freak, I do NOT love paying the many and varied taxes that France extracts from me; but even those I like to get out of the way quickly.

The reason I bring this up is because I know the exact opposite type of person – in fact I know lots of them. Is there something wrong with me, or them, or both, or nobody?

I’d ask AI, but have overrun my chat limit for the next few hours.
