Vingegaard winning on a flat course in Saitama the other day made me chuckle and give my head a little scratch at the same time. These post-season (or post TDF) ‘races’ with predetermined outcomes are still very much a part of the cycling season and presumably a good way for some riders to make some extra bucks (I really hope is was USD in the case of the above race because the yen is atrocious right now). But it got me wondering if there are equivalents to this silliness in other sports?

World wide ‘wrestling’ federation – entire sport is made up. I can’t believe anyone even watches these criteriums…
I was going to add “except for pro wrestling”!
Possibly not! I too laughed when I saw he’d beaten the Tour’s Green Jersey in a sprint!
Tennis where the best players only meet each other in the final rounds?
