100,000 Strava Kms

I just passed a totally random milestone (or kilometerstone, I guess) by reaching 100,000 kilometers ridden since I joined Strava 12 years ago.

100,000 kilometers is a big distance, but how can you visualize such a long way, you might be asking. Well, Chatgpt has these handy answers:

  • It’s 2.5 times around the Earth.
  • 25% of the distance to the moon (this just goes to show how unrealistic Ralph Kramden was…Alice would never have gotten that far)
  • It’s like driving your car 8 hours a day for a year. This one’s my personal favorite.

And for the record, this doesn’t include trainer rides because I’m not going anywhere.

  1. Those numbers are getting pretty big. When you reference the earthโ€™s ๐ŸŒŽ circumference and the distance to the moon ๐ŸŒ–, you know itโ€™s getting to be significant ๐Ÿ’ช

      • Yeah, my Strava only distance is 211K.

But my lifetime distances are crazy. Swam the equivalent of LA to Hawaii and half way back, ran 1.5 times around the planet and cycled to the moon and part way back.
