As I was watching the Tour de Romandie early this evening I heard the commentator say that the rider in the back of the screen capture below “pedale avec les oreilles”. I understood immediately because Thibau Nys was bobbing his head back and forth – a sure sign that he was ready to crack.

Well, we both got him wrong because, even though he was “pedaling with his ears”, he won the stage.
I caught this live (except it was very early in the morning in Arizona), and it was the second straight day of solid racing in Romandie, and a treat to watch to the very end. There were some similar comments from the Anglophone hosts as well.
Today’s stage made me want to hop in the car and drive up there. Beautiful roads and scenery.
they completely misread Thibaut – to me he looked easy and was just relaxing ahead of his successful sprint. But, it is another great French cycling expression – there are so many good ones…
I just need to turn on Eurosport for 10 minutes and I’ll find a new expression!
