Mathieu Van der Poel won his 3rd Tour of Flanders today. This was no surprise to anyone, since Pog wasn’t there this year and Wout is injured. Still, even if the result was nearly a foregone conclusion, I never get tired of watching this kid win (unlike Pogacar, for example). I’m not sure what it is, but he seems to ride with a seriousness that befits a champion, he never appears to leave anything on the road…and he didn’t celebrate till he was safely inside the last kilometer. Class.

Having ridden up the climbs yesterday (had to walk a bit of Koppenberg due to liquid mud!) I was sure that this climb would be decisive. And the pros speed is bonkers!
I saw your impressive ride yesterday, Jules! Good on ya for hammering that out in what looked like very Belgian conditions. I climbed the Koppenberg and couple of times…hard enough when bone dry!
word of warning from all of us who stream Eurosport and watch the races later that night when all sporting activities and or work are done – we don’t want to spoilers in the title 🙂. In my case I’ve already seen both men and women’s results before this so I don’t cry foul. But next time no results in title! We are in streaming 2024 now quand même ! Post midnight spoilers should be strived for
