Charge and Go

This morning I heard on the radio that we are going to see tech coming soon that will allow us to not even have to press ‘enter’ now on the keyboard, along with other keys that involve actual movement – all controlled with your eyes. It’s bad enough that my email software tries to end nearly every sentence I write; soon I might not even have to write it.

This made me think about yesterday, when John and I were out for a ride after lunch. We were passed by a guy on one of these, except a bit more souped up.

This is an electric unicycle, which apparently is a thing in some places. Here’s something else I just came across that will ensure that you can get to 7-11 without taking step of your own.

And everyone’s favorite…

I’ve recently been reading about how to grow old while staying healthy. Shockingly, there is not one mention in any of the articles I’ve read about buying things with wheels that are powered by batteries as a way to stay fit and maintain strong bones.

If this type of life doesn’t already exist, it won’t be long before we will be able to just sit in front of our screen, do our work, have our food delivered to our front door (by someone on a battery-operated machine) and write blog articles by just staring at the screen. Can’t wait.

  1. Don’t get me going on the scooter thing Gerry! Around here there’s a lot of these ‘chopper’ like scooters with wheels as big as regular motorcycles and definitely moving faster than 25kph. Helmetless and no registration plate. And in the bike lane!
E-bikes I’m ok with as you have to at least pedal a bit. But any electric device where you don’t even have to move your legs 🤔

  2. There’s a guy around here with one of those e-single-wheel contraptions. I got talking to him one day and he rides it the 20ish miles to/from work every day. Apparently his model ordered from overseas will cruise at 30mph on the flat! Pretty nuts and certainly not street legal. He does wear a full face motorbike helmet and protection.

  3. Wait until you are very nearly 82 before making too many comments about e-bikes. Something that keeps your legs twirling and is a bit easier on your joints might be just what the doctor ordered.
