A few days ago I took a long ride into the hills north of Nîmes and finally made my way to Village Vélo, a bike rental shop owned by a British couple in St. Quentin la Poterie. I have known about them for ages, but had not made the time to drop by till now.
Glad I did.
Doug Stoddart, the owner, is a young-ish Brit with his fingers in all sorts of pies, it seems. Apart from his rental business Doug rents out his luxury villa in the village, does occasional cycling tours, and finds time to make software for other rental shops.
Doug and I ended up having a long chat on the sunny terrace in front of the shop until some American customers arrived. He is well situated it seems, being just north of Uzès, a very popular tourist destination in these parts, not to mention Nîmes, about 30 km away. The ‘interruption’ gave me a chance to take some photos at least.
Village Vélo – 371 Route d’Uzès, St. Quentin la Poterie. 33-(0)6-86-45-13-10
Weekdays: 9:00-12:00 / 14:00-18:00. Weekends: by appointment.

This is weird! I have a question about renting a bike from village velo. Do I type my request in here?
Hi Paula,
This blog article is from 2011, so not even sure if Village Velo is still around!
