Now that my rides are pushing north of 4 hours and it’s suddenly 21c today, I find myself thinking about water on my ride tomorrow. This is sometimes not a problem and other times there’s a crucial lack. In the mountains there is usually a fountain that you can fill up from in every village, but in the south of France (or my area of the south of France anyway) it’s touch and go. Bars, cafes and cemeteries are good last resorts, though, so I never go thirsty.
But it’s nice to have a proper fountain or tap, so I was happy to find this site is still up and running.

When it’s time to drink, just open your phone and see if you are near one of the icons above. To find out where the ‘point d’eau’ is, click, then you get handy information like this:

The site tells you on every page you open that they don’t take responsibility for the reliability of their information, but I can confirm that there is indeed water next to Our Lady of the Vines in Vacquières, or at least there used to be when I lived in Montpellier 13 years ago.
Tomorrow’s weather is looking similar, so I’ll be testing this baby out for sure.
