GPs Québec and Montréal, eh

There are two races coming up this week that I always look forward to, partly because they are in the homeland, but mostly because both the Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec and the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal are great viewing.

Both races (one on the 8th and the other on the 10th) are circuits right in the center of each city. Québec’s is spectacular because it cuts through and over and around the walled old town, while Montreal’s is a monster of 4842 meters over 221 kilometers. A serious race.

And these races are seemingly highly prized by teams and riders, given the list of previous winners: Peter Sagan, Michael Matthews, Thomas Voeckler, Greg Vanavermaet, and an up-and-coming rider named Tadej Pogacar last year.

Finally, for those who work for a living, live coverage starts at 5pm France time. Who could ask for more?
