Literally ‘release the horses’, this expression means to ‘give ‘er hell’, or something equivalent, which is what the commentators on France TV said about good old Thibault Pinot on the penultimate climb of the day. He did, and passed ‘Pinot Corner’ in the front of the race, before being caught on the last climb. That was something to behold.

The entire Tour has been something to behold, but I agree Pinot really did something special today, a real “rouleur” and a class act.
The French loves panache and he seems to still have some left.
Completely class. Sad to see him retire. I’ve never seen so many fans come for one rider in any stage of the Tour de France. Every sign on the penultimate climb near his home was for him. He went out as the most popular rider in France for sure
That’s for sure. Wonder who’ll take his place?
I’m not sure there even is a replacement for Thibault right now. Most of the French press says there is no replacement equivalent yet. …
The thin string worked amazingly well.
I was thinking the same thing!
